Diego Osorio - What to expect from a weekend without technology

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A WEEKEND WITHOUT TECHNOLOGY ?

Welcome, dear reader. In this blog, you will read the experience that I am living that consists of spending a day without any technology. Accompany me to discover the feats that await me.

It's 6:00 am and I'm waking up. Usually at this time, I see my cell phone notifications. Now, I'm tidying up my room and I'm not putting it off for later.

It is 7:00 am and breakfast is already served. My family and I are setting the table together. We usually watch TV while having breakfast. Right now, we are keeping the TV off and we are talking about the politics of our country.

It is 9:00 am and it is sports time. On a normal day, we watch videos to instruct our physical activity routine. Now, we are using some cards printed the day before.

It's midday and I'm having lunch. My parents are leaving home and I am staying with my younger brother. When we are alone, we play video games online with our virtual friends. However, we are now playing a card game between the two of us. We're betting what's left of the dessert my mom cooked.

It is 3:00 pm and it is time to study. Before, I used the computer to read the "Plan Lector" from an e-book. At the moment, I am reading the book in physical form and instead of typing my summaries by Microsoft Word, now I add the chapters on a blank sheet of paper.

It is 6:00 pm and my parents are coming back from the street.Weekends like today, my mom makes cookies for everyone. Now that no one has anything else to do, we are all helping Mom make lunch.

It is 8:00 pm and it is time to sleep. I usually sleep at midnight and be on call with my virtual friends. Today, I am sleeping early since I am not supposed to do anything else.

In summary, this experience was very entertaining as it took me out of my common circle where I stop with technology to satisfy my needs. Thanks to this experience, I learned that there are many fun things to do beyond being in front of a screen.
